On the occasion of the 209th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko's birthday, Ukrainians in different countries of the world held thematic events.
Communities gathered together to watch films about the Ukrainian Genius, organized literary evenings with the declamation of Shevchenko's poems.
In Berlin, Ukrainians watched Oleksandr Denysenko's film "Taras. The Return". A quiz competition was organized for children. And in Tbilisi, an awarding ceremony was held for the winners and participants of the 17th traditional all-Georgian competition of reciters of Shevchenko's poetry.
In Skopje, community activists read poems by Taras Shevchenko. Also they planted flowers near Taras Shevchenko' monument, which was erected in Skopje in 2009.
