The Ukrainian community joined the Christmas fair in Berlin
Public organization Ukraine-Hilfe Berlin e.V. and the Ukrainian Orthodox Community of Berlin took part in the Christmas market in Berlin, which took place on the square in front of Charlottenburg Castle. The facade of the palace was illuminated in blue and yellow colors as a sign of support for Ukraine, reports Amal Berlin Ukraine.
Participation in the event was made possible thanks to the help of Tommy Erbe, the organizer of the fair and a great friend of Ukraine. He made it possible for Ukrainians to rent three tents at his fair for free. Ukrainian dishes were prepared in two small stalls, and a souvenir shop, a photo exhibition "The Price of Freedom" and a collection point for humanitarian aid were set up in the larger white pavilion.
The Ukrainian community treated the guests of the event with pampushki, borcham, varenyky, borscht, derun and other Ukrainian delicacies. And Ukrainian activists in white clothes with angel wings and flashlights in their hands collected charitable donations. The guests were also entertained by Ukrainian musicians who played wind instruments and harpsichords.
"All of us, except for a few sellers, work on a public basis, and everything earned from the sale of snacks and souvenirs will go to Ukraine. We have already sent 22,000 combat boots for our soldiers, we need another 5,000, and we are making money on them. Donations have decreased recently, so the main thing for us now is to earn funds. But it is also important to properly present Ukrainian cuisine in Berlin, because it is unknown to the average German citizen," Andriy Ilin, deputy chairman of the board of the Ukrainian Orthodox Community of Berlin, said in a comment.
