A charity fair and Shevchenko readings were organized in Ankara
On March 12, 2023, the Embassy of Ukraine in Turkey together with the Ukrainian Union in Ankara held Shevchenko Days and a charity fair.
At the event, they read poetry and sang songs based on Shevchenko's poems, danced to music inspired by Kobzar. Saturday school children drew portraits, and visitors had the opportunity to meet Shevchenko the artist. The highlight of the event was the "Testament", which was performed in five languages: Ukrainian, Crimean Tatar, Turkish, Kazakh and Urdu.
During the event, in addition to the cultural component - poetry readings and a concert - a fair and an auction were also held, which had a charitable purpose, in particular aid to Ukraine.
"We thank the participants of the Shevchenko readings for their attention and interest in the work of the Great Kobzar. The poems of Taras Hryhorovich Shevchenko are an inexhaustible source of wisdom. You can reread them many times and find something new every time. For more than two centuries, the great Shevchenko, Kobzar and the Prophet have not been with us , but every year seems to bring him closer to us. His creativity, in the context of recent events, does not allow us to doubt the truthfulness of his prophecies," - it is noted on the page of the Ukrainian Union in Ankara.
