Ukrainians in Hungary Held Events on the Occasion of the 300th Anniversary of the Birth of Hryhoriy Skovoroda
The Society of Ukrainian Culture in Hungary, the Self-Government of Ukrainians of Budapest and the Self-Government of Ukrainians of Miskolc organized solemn events on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous Ukrainian poet and philosopher Hryhoriy Skovoroda.
The events lasted two days and began on December 3 in Tokai with the laying of wreaths and flowers near the memorial plaque of Hryhoriy Skovoroda., installed in 1998.
Then the celebrations continued in the conference hall of the "Merkur" hotel. The honored guests addressed the audience with speeches, Ukrainian musicians entertained the visitors and Liliya Gembik and Kateryna Ruschak declared poems by Hryhoriy Skovoroda.
One more event - a charity concert with the participation of the famous Ukrainian male vocal quartet "LeonVoci" (Lviv) and the Ukrainian singer Ulyana Molnar - took place in the assembly hall of the Mishkolets City Hall.
The two-day solemn commemoration ended with a festive concert in Budapest on December 4 in the Church of St. Mykhailo. 220,000 forints collected at the concert will go to help war orphans.
