The community in France organized an exhibition of Ukrainian embroidery
On November 26, 2021, the opening of the "Ukraine Brodée" exhibition took place at the "La Manufacture de Roubaix" museum in Roubaix (France). The initiator of the exhibition was the organization Portail de l'Ukraine.
"On this day, there were many wonderful people, participants of this project, friends and good acquaintances, probably 200 people, no less. Festive atmosphere, pleasant conversations and most importantly - so many interesting things there," Oksana Legenka noted on her page.
The exhibition show ancient Ukrainian clothes, things, carpets, documentary archives, works of French artists that are associated with Ukraine. The program of the project also includes excursions and various master classes.
"Traditional clothing with colorful patterns, a wealth of forms, materials and styles pleases the eye and tells the story of the people.[...] Upon arriving in France, Ukrainian immigrants brought with them the tradition of embroidery, a heritage that was preserved and multiplied by their descendants, who are now French. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the disclosure of this history and these memories", - says the portal of La manufacture Roubaix.
The exhibition will last until January 23, 2022 from 14:00 to 18:00 daily. Free admission. Address: 29 avenue Julien Lagache, 59100 Roubaix, France. The Association "Portal of Ukraine" was created on the initiative of citizens who came to France from different regions of Ukraine and with the participation of representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.
