Ukrainian Communities Held Actions to Mark the Anniversary of Russia's Full-Scale Invasion of Ukraine

On February 24, 2023 Ukraine marked one year since the full-scale Russian invasion of the territory of Ukraine.

On the anniversary of this bloody war, Ukrainians in all corners of the world organized special events. First of all, large-scale manifestations were held in different cities. Communities unfurled Ukrainian flags, shouted slogans in support of Ukraine and tried to draw the world's attention to the atrocities committed by Russia. In many Ukrainian churches, memorial liturgies were conducted for Ukrainians whose lives were taken by Russia.

Ukrainian branches also organized creative performances, photo exhibitions, and thematic lessons in schools. For example, the students of the school of Ukrainian studies "Samopomich" (New York) prayed for the victory of Ukraine, met with Ukrainian Defenders, performed patriotic songs and the National Anthem of Ukraine.

And in the French city of Metz, two events took place - a demonstration and a cultural performance - at the train station. Such a location was not chosen by chance: the station became a symbol of the fact that many Ukrainians became refugees because of the war.

The performance lasted three hours: the Ukrainian musician was performing music while the Ukrainian artist was creating a painting. Many people stopped to watch this performance and joined the demonstration that took place in the square next to the station.

Representatives of the city hall and the mayor of Metz also joined the action. He assured that the city would continue to help both the Association “Exchanges Lorraine Ukraine” and the sister city of Chernivtsi.
