Online Course on Fundraising for the Diaspora: Secrets of Successful Application
The fourth session of the fundraising online course for diaspora “When the Money Runs Out” was held on September 7, 2022. The speaker was Diana Hinku, Capacity Development Specialist at the European Union Global Diaspora Facility.
The work of international donor funds was the central theme of the session. In particular, participants learned about the European Union Global Diaspora Facility fund, which supports diaspora projects and works with certain specialized specialists. Diana Hinku told about four criteria, used to select an application, how to prepare a package of documents for a grant and peculiarities of the fund’s calls.
The lecturer also highlighted the most frequent mistakes that applicants make when applying for a grant: a lack of understanding of the niche, the desire to cover many areas at once, poor risk management, and the inconsistency of the grant application with the donor's priorities. The lecturer also emphasized the 7 secrets of a successful application, among which are innovation, stability and clarity.
After the presentation, the participants had the opportunity to ask their questions and express their wishes for future meetings.
