On October 12, the "Ukrainian Bookshelf" was opened in the National Library of Latvia. Now there are books about the history of Ukraine, its traditions, culture, art and tourism, works of Taras Shevchenko, and Lesia Ukrainka, monographs about famous Ukrainians, as well as books for children.
"Ukrainians who arrived in Latvia as temporarily displaced persons as a result of military aggression by Russia can read Ukrainian literature in their native language. On the other hand, Latvian citizens and other foreigners could learn more about Ukraine, its history and culture by reading books in English. Within this projects Ukrainian books are also available at the branches of the Latvian National Library in various regions of Latvia," the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia informs.
Ukrainian literature, including children's books in the Ukrainian language, was also transferred by the Embassy of Ukraine to the Riga Central Library, to support centers for citizens of Ukraine, schools and kindergartens in various Latvian cities, in particular, Riga, Jelgava, Smiltene, Valmiera, Kuldiga, Kekava, Saulkrasti and others.
